Calling all Dads! Mother’s Day is around the corner and the pressure is on to help your kids find the perfect gift for Mom.
Make Mom (or Grandma) feel extra special by creating something as unique as she is! Children will love getting involved with these Mother’s Day DIY gift ideas using stones and decorative rocks from Rockland landscaping supplies.
1. Picture Frame
Remind Mom of a beautiful memory with a family photo or expression. Get a new (or old) wood, flat surface picture frame. Choose your fave rocks or polished stones from an Edmonton landscaping supplies or garden store. Remove glass from frame and use a glue gun to apply stones working from the outer edge inward to keep outside edges straight. Let glue dry, add a photo and reassemble. This Mother’s Day DIY gift idea needs a handy Dad! Get stainless steel hexagon mesh chicken wire from your local hardware store, a flexible metal rod, wire cutters, pliers and a small chain link. Use gloves, a wire cutter and pliers to cut the metal rod to shape into a heart (measure based on preferred heart size). Secure ends of rod in place with stainless steel mesh chicken wire. Cut chicken wire in 2 equal size heart shapes that are 1 inch larger than the heart form. Wrap one side of the heart around the form and secure. Have the children choose the rocks and fill with grey decorative rocks. “Close” the heart with chicken wire and secure chain link at the top to hang outside.
4. Personalized Message Rocks
Personalize a corner of the garden with rocks that have a special meaning to Mom. Share inspirational words, names of your family members or what you love about her like her strength, laugh, or imagination.
