Frequently Asked Questions About Winter Products & Services:
Are you open to the public over the winter?
Yes, we are open Monday – Friday from 8am-4pm.
Do you provide residential snow removal?
No, we only provide snow removal services for commercial properties in Edmonton and the surrounding area.
Do you provide delivery over the winter months?
Yes, we provide delivery all year round, even during the winter depending on the weather. We’re happy to deliver our ice management products in our Rockland Big Bags, pails, pallets or bulk material as a loose load.
Do you offer curb-side pick up?
Yes, you can order online and come to the yard for easy, convenient pick-up. No need to get out the car, our team will greet you and load your order into your trunk or trailer.
Do rock chips help with ice control?
Rock chips on their own provide traction but they do not melt ice. We offer pickled rock chips which is a blend of rock chips and liquid calcium chloride which will melt ice, provide traction, and prevent the rock chips from forming into clumps.
What is the best product to melt snow and ice?
Calcium chloride is the best ice melting product which is why Rockland offers sand and rock chips mixed with calcium chloride to melt ice and prevent slippery conditions. Ice melt like Polar Plus and Yukon Gold is also effective for breaking down ice quickly and at temperatures as low as -32C. Both products are less harmful to pets, vegetation, landscaping and your vehicle.
How do you sell snow and ice melting products?
We sell winter bulk materials such as rock chips, pickled rock chips, salt, sand and pickled sand in a variety of sizes and options:
- Loose loaded into the back of a truck or trailer. Prices are per yard or quarter yard
- Rockland Big Bags which can be filled up to a yard of material
- Rockland Bin rental or purchase for on-site
- Bring your own tote or pail
Do you have traction sand?
We do have traction sand. However, we often recommend rock chips which provide a higher level of grip and traction for slippery surfaces.
Why purchase premium ice melt from Rockland over other box store brands?
Our ice melting products are rated for temperatures as low as -22C and -32C and are dyed to track spreading to prevent over application. They are the same products we trust and use on our commercial lots so we know they’re effective!
