To calculate how many yards of product you require for your project, simply measure the length, width, and depth you want to fill in either feet, inches, or meters. Our screened topsoil is sifted rich black dirt, our premium garden mix contains our screened topsoil, peat moss, mushroom manure, and garden sand. This gives your plants rich nutrients and soil, along with sand to loosen up the soil.
For plants, trees and shrubs, screened topsoil is a perfect material to keep them happy and thriving. When it comes to vegetable gardens or flowers, garden mix is the better product as it is full of nutrients and plant matter to help with longevity and overall plant health.
The best mulch material that is safe for your furry family members would be the Foothills Mulch or Douglas Fir Mulch.
Cedar tends to contain pesticides which can be toxic if your pets ingest it, along with black mulch which contains dye to obtain the unnatural colour.

Autumn and Spring
Cycles occur in landscaping throughout the year. The optimal season for preparing and planting flower beds as well as starting hardscaping work is often April. The bulk of significant landscaping and hardscaping projects are completed during the summer construction season. Because of the cooler temperatures in the fall, planting trees and plants is a terrific idea. Through the autumn and up until the ground freezes or it starts to snow, hardscaping is also done.
Start contacting landscaping contractors in the winter to guarantee that your job is completed within the required time range. Getting on their calendar at the start of their season in the spring is far preferable than phoning in the late summer when crews can be fully booked until the end of the season.
Mulching improves soil health and aids in: Decreased weed growth, which saves time spent weeding. Hold moisture to reduce water use in dry, hot conditions. As the mulch gradually decomposes, provide nutrients to the soil.
For ornamental stones, a two-inch depth is often advised, however this might vary based on the stone’s size and the use. For a free consultation, get in touch with one of our specialists.
One of the most popular methods for preventing weeds from developing in your new project is landscaping cloth. Its tight weave prevents weeds from growing through while allowing air to circulate and water to get through.
This one is challenging. Weeds naturally flourish in environments that are favorable for plant development. However, there are methods you may do to stop weed development at its earliest stages and get rid of weeds once they occur. In order to prevent weeds from growing in your flower beds and garden, you should first cover the soil with landscaping cloth. Then, to further inhibit weed growth, apply a weed preventer like Preen. If weeds do start to grow, get rid of them completely—including the roots—as soon as possible to stop them from coming back. Use a commercial herbicide to eradicate any weeds that appear in concrete and paver cracks. Use vinegar in a spray bottle for a more natural approach. You should know that all plants, not just weeds, will perish when exposed to pesticides, including vinegar.
You might choose to employ a professional or not, but there are many advantages to paying close care to your grass. It will provide you a wonderful spot for your family to enjoy, raise the value of your house, add oxygen to the air, and chill the area surrounding your home, simplifying the work of your air conditioner.
In addition, a well-established lawn will have a strong root system that regulates runoff, erosion, and the quality of water that enters the groundwater supply. The dust and contaminants that we wish to keep out of that may be trapped by healthy grass.
We carry a wide variety of patio rocks. Visit our blog for guidance or drop us a line.
Retaining wall drainage is extremely important. We’ll help you to choose the right materials.
Even though hardscape and softscape are diametrically opposed, both are necessary for every landscaping job.
Hardscape includes all hard additions within your backyard, such as:
– Brick
– Slab
– Paver
– Concrete
– Stone
– Wood
– Gravel
– Rocks
Softscape includes all soft, growing additions within your backyard, such as:
– Shrubs
– Succulents
– Trees
– Flowers
– Soil
– Grass
The right balance and inclusion of softscapes and hardscapes can result in a successful landscape project.
